Today sees Galway take on Limerick in the All-Ireland Hurling Final 2026, at 3:30pm in Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland (for my International readers.)
Who will win, and by what score is anyone's guess, but let's take a closer look at each County's performance in the Championship.
Galway (Gaillimh) have won the Liam MacCarthy Cup 5 times to Limerick's (Luimneach) 12, so off the bat the expectation would be on Limerick to triumph, especially since Limerick have a more recent win than Galway, winning in 2023 as opposed to Galway's last win in 2017.
Would this mean The Tribesmen have more fire in their bellies to regain the title? Perhaps, but never underestimate The Shannonsiders' desire to hold the Cup again. These two Counties deserve to be in the final, after The Big Three (An Triúr Mór) of Cork, Kilkenny and Tipperary were eliminated, and they're going to make the most of it.
Whether the maroon and white of Galway, or the green and white of Limerick will be adorning the Liam MacCarthy Cup at the end of the match, we can only speculate, but OneGaelic wishes both teams the very best of luck!!
